The future of Afghan left-arm fast bowler Shapoor Zadran seems in under clouds as he has been ignored by the current leadership of the Afghanistan cricket board led by Farhan Yuesefaza.
Shapoor Zadran is one of the senior Afghan cricketers who are part of the Afghanistan national cricket team for over 15 years and he is supposed to be given every respect from ACB which hasn’t been seen in the last almost two months.
Even ACB didn’t reveal the reason but the fast bowler wasn’t invited or even informed of the recent events by the Afghanistan cricket board while some others who are even not in the current national team were invited which is questionable.
ACB invited over a dozen Afghan national cricketers to the contract signing ceremony of the 10 years partnership (APL+Shpageeza) with Afghanistan national radio-television authorities in Kabul and then left out from the national team who has been invited and hosted by ARG to meet Pakistan’s Prime minister former world cup winner Imran Khan in Afghanistan presidential palace.
Shapoor Zadran is a nationally contracted player who has been in the controversy over a private cricket league (Million Cup) as ACB chairman has barred given him the NOC to stage the league sitting some conditions to be fulfilled, but reportedly he is against the league for personal interests.
It is unclear where the current mistrust and controversy between ACB leadership mainly between chairman Farhan Yuesefzai and fast bowler Shapoor Zadran will end, But seems they both have gone so far and things seem to be even worse between them if they couldn’t settle it down.
Afghanistan has a busy 2021 looking to the international fixture (FTP) and the announcement to resume the second edition of Afghanistan Premier League (APLT20) but will Shapoor Zadran who has been ignored for some domestic events will be part of the national team and continue as central contract player list under Farhan Yusefzai is a question of millions of dollars.
